The Crow needs no introduction, a comic book/film steeped in emotional vulnerability that chronicles the journey of Eric Draven.

Eric is a man brought back from death by the titular crow as a spirit of vengeance. Eric seeks revenge for his lost love Shelley and dispatches their killers in brutal fashion. However, he is not the only one brought back for divine retribution.

The Crow: Skinning The Wolves takes place at the height of WW2 inside a concentration camp. In an all too familiar visual, the victims are herded off the trains and are waiting for inspection.

When one man pleads that he is “not one of them” the commandant obliges him with a shot to the head. Then, the commandant orders an officer to clear out the train cars but the officer returns with half his jaw missing as an unknown man kills all Nazis in sight.

What follows is a harrowing tale of revenge where the nameless protagonist brings the camp down piece by piece with only one ultimate goal, kill the commandant. Over three issues, we discover little about this new (old?) avatar of the crow. He was once a prisoner at a different camp brought to the commandant for a chess match. If he wins, he lives. If he loses, he dies.
