On Hold for Over An Hour Just To Get A Piece Of Paper.

This week I wanted to talk about the James Bond series and where it could go after No Time To Die. I wanted to tell you all to go read the sublime Frankenstein horror of Immortal Hulk that drags the green skinned giant back to his roots in terrifying gory detail. Then I had to call the Department of Work and Pensions.

As a disabled person I’m entitled to a disabled parking permit (hereafter referred to as a Blue Badge), something that makes travel and parking a lot easier and lets me go out into the world with minimal headaches. In order to get one I obviously need to provide proof, this is where the problems begin.

Like most disabled people in the UK, I dread having to call the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) for a multitude of reasons but chief among them is the horrendous wait times.

I’ve spent a significant portion of my life on hold with these people, my average wait time is around 30–45 minutes before frustration and resignation takes hold and I end the call only to begin the Sisyphean task again the next day.
